There were a shortage of aubergues and refuges for the pilgrims towards Santiago. There were no place to spend the night in the village. I remember the pilgrims sleeping on the floor, on chairs setting as a chair or top of wooden benches that my parents had on the veranda. And here I was sleeping with my family and my Uncle Severo. It was difficult to communicate with the pilgrims, most of them coming from France but the hospitality is made of good manners and charming feelings. |

Our refuge has a paramount norm that is HONESTY in its whole concept and the keen devotion to the welfare of the people in order to state a pleasant impression and delightful regards from Sahagún and its people to those pilgrims towards Santiago. That's why we have established three sacred rules for us:
